The title of the first project is ‘Dynamics in the central plant cell metabolism’.
This research theme will focus on characterizing the fast dynamic metabolic changes occurring in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) plant cells/tissue exposed to rapidly changing conditions. This information is crucial to developing metabolic pathway models for the central metabolism of the tomato plant cell. Steady state approaches can be used to quantify fluxes through metabolic pathways. However, to identify the actual regulation and control loops behind these pathways, data from dynamic experiments are required.

We are looking for a project researcher with a background in visual
perception to join our digital holography research team at University
of Oulu. The successful applicant will work on projects related to
visual perception of video on three-dimensional (3D) displays.
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D., or be in the advanced stages
of a Ph.D., in a research area closely related to visual perception.
A two-year position is offered. The salary will be according to the
applicant’s experience and qualifications, and will be determined by
the standard Finnish state salary scale for “Other personnel”, level
9 - 11 (€2486 - €4751 per month).

Environments with Haptic and Visual cues”
1 post-doc and 1 PhD position are available at the National Institute
of Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA) in Rennes,
France. The project is in the area of virtual reality (VR) and haptic
feedback (force/tactile feedback). It concerns the use of visual and
haptic feedback for the simulation of walking in virtual worlds. The
project is funded by the European Commission for 3 years. The aim is
to investigate how multisensory cues (visual and haptic) can
collaborate to improve the human walking in Virtual Environments.

Job description
1 Ph.D. students:
‘Closed-Loop Embedded MEMS-based Precision Stage’ (CLEMPS).
The CLEMPS project is a collaboration between two research groups, each having one Ph.D student. One Ph.D student will focus on the overall mechatronic design of the system,(this vacancy has been fulfilled the other Ph.D. student will focus on the clean room fabrication and the design of a nm resolution MEMS-based sensor. The project involves a close collaboration with two industrial companies DEMCON, for advanced mechatronics and FEI, manufacturer of electron microscopes.
